There are a zillion smoothie recipes out there, but I thought I would share mine because I have found it’s very economical, and I can make it from fruit that I pick locally and freeze. Try this smoothie with Avocado Toast for a fresh and healthy breakfast.
Here’s what you’ll need :
Everyday Blueberry Smoothie : Serves 1
1/2 ripe banana (can be frozen)
1/3 cup of frozen blueberries (or strawberries)
1/2 cup orange juice
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon ground golden flax seed
1 handful of frozen or fresh greens – Try: Spinach, Broccoli, Kale
Cold water to blend
*Optional : 1/4 teaspoon turmeric or cinnamon to taste
Combine all of the ingredients except the water in a blender. My blender isn’t the most powerful, so I let the smoothie ingredients sit for 5-10 minutes as I go about my morning routine before blending, allowing the frozen fruit to thaw a little. When your ready to start blending, slowly pour cold filtered water into the smoothie mixture until you reach your desired consistency.
